Remeber these heads were designed to increase the flow throughout the lift range by shaping/sizing the ports and keeping the valve size down to increase the velocity of the charge. This was done for 2 reasons, emissions, and torque. WebJan 29, 2009 · The raised marks you see are the Casting Bungs that the idiot did not smooth off before pouring. The 1989 GT40P head is according to ford 100% identical to the 1987, and it's simply the Casting man's experience with the mold. Even I can see the original Mold Bung hasn't been messed with or modified in any way and I'm a trillion miles away.
