WebI think I've tried everything: re-syncing; uninstalling & reinstalling the app; expanding location permissions to 'always' vs just while app is in use; adjusting time zone from the app from automatic to manual, and re-syncing; restarting the fitbit itself (twice during all this troubleshooting) ...
